Hi!
It’s been a while. My last post here was in September, and it’s already the new year!
As for my absence, I didn’t plan on taking a break from here, but life happened in such a way that I had to take a break from writing and drawing.
And during those days, I realised that it’s better to schedule my posts here rather than make last-minute changes and post in a hurry.
And… here is my first scheduled post!
During the pandemic, when everyone was confined to their homes, some random person made a mysterious entry into our neighbourhood at night. The person wasn’t a thief, as there were no robbery cases involved. But once in a while, the person made suspicious appearances in the neighbourhood, which created a sense of panic among the neighbours.
The person engaged in various activities during the night, some of which included:
Making sounds on windows or doors.
Turning on the tap outside the house.
I wanted to be on the safe side and didn’t want to attract unwanted attention by turning on the lights in my room. So during those days, I was in bed earlier than usual, even before my parents slept.
On moonlit days, while I was in bed, I used to imagine what it would be like if someone was standing just outside my window.
A few weeks passed since the appearance of this suspicious person, and then it was New Year’s Eve. I didn’t make any changes to my new sleep routine though; I was in bed by 9.00 pm, and by 9.30 pm, I was in deep sleep.
I woke up after a few hours, and the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was a silhouette. I could see it clearly, as it was a moonlit night.
The silhouette was moving in one direction, and my sleepy eyes couldn’t make out whether the person was inside or outside my house. It wasn’t exactly how I imagined things to be; the silhouette was larger than I imagined. And then it occurred to me that the person was inside the house and not outside.
The suspicious person wasn’t known to do anyone physical harm, so I told myself there was no need to be that worried. I kept mum and watched the person’s movement.
Slowly, the person moved and turned on the light.
Yeah, I did overthink things.
